Sell in May and go away for stock?

Statistics shows that Dow Jones industrial average rises 7.4% from Nov. 1 through April 30 in average since 1950, while rises only 0.4% from May 1 to Oct 31. Market crashes often happen between May 1 and October 31. But you should not treat it as a law of nature. It is only meaningful for long term investors.

How to start Internet Business Video tutorial

When you decide to start an Internet business, you need to understand Internet business first. I found that making money on Internet is difficult than labor work. Only small amount of people can make living on Internet. Don't think you can become instant riches with little effort. Like any business, it takes creativity, planning, money and hard work to be successful. If you treat making money on Internet as an extra income or just for fun, below are several ways:

1) Promote other company’s products and services on your website. When a sale is made, you get a commission. Such as using eBay and Amazon.

2) PPC (Pay Per Click marketing) for your website or your blog using Adsense.

3) Working From Home on the Web: Freelance Services, such as web design and writing.

4) Consulting and much more

This video tutorial series from SubHub will give you most information for Internet Marketing.

How to calculate capital gain and loss for mutual fund in Canadian Tax?

Read  "RC4169 Tax treatment of mutual funds for investors" carefully. The link is
http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/E/pub/tg/rc4169/rc4169-e.html

My personal understanding after I read this manual:
1. Using Adjusted cost base (ACB) to calculate the mutual fund in price, which can be
seen/calculated in each quarter mutual fund statement.

2. Capital loss can only be used to reduce capital gains. If capital loss is more than capital gain, the extra loss can be carried to next year, but not be uses to deduct other income.

3. Capital gains, only 50% taxable

Electronic Cover Letter

In today's job market, more and more people are relying on e-mail and online methods for cover letters. A cover letter is a quick description for a particular job position.

E-mail cover letters are different from traditional cover letters. You need to catch employers attention in the subject line and the top few lines.

E-mail cover letters should be straightforward to the point, and deliver your shining point to the employers.

For the person you address, you should do your best to find the person name. Putting HR manager is the second choice. Clearly state the job title you applied for and your qualification. In the closing paragraph, it is better to ask for a meeting (don't have to be an interview) to discuss your qualification and the job. Finally leave your cell phone number and indicate that your resume is attached.
